01Project Overview

AFT, in partnership with SNCF Réseau, developed an innovative virtual reality training kit designed for trainers, teachers, and prevention officers working with freight and passenger train drivers. This revolutionary project aims to raise awareness about best practices when crossing railway level crossings through an immersive and educational experience.

The kit features six immersive scenarios representing emergency situations, allowing users to experience the consequences of appropriate or inappropriate reactions in real-world situations, within a safe and controlled environment.

  Six Virtual Reality Scenarios : Immersive experiences representing emergency situations when crossing railway level crossings, enabling users to adopt correct behaviors and understand the consequences of their reactions.

  In-Person Analysis Support : Customized educational materials including rules to follow, behaviors to adopt, road safety messages, explanatory videos, scenario tree structures, and BEA-TT investigations corresponding to the virtual experiences.

  Non-Interactive Video Version : Alternative for users who do not have access to a VR headset.

03Immersive Training Innovation

This project represents a significant advancement in professional training by using virtual reality to create immersive and memorable learning experiences. VR technology allows drivers to experience critical situations in a completely safe environment, without any real risk.

Virtual immersion facilitates better understanding of safety issues and more effective memorization of best practices. Users can repeat scenarios as many times as necessary, enabling progressive learning adapted to each individual.

06Technical Implementation

The development of this VR solution required deep expertise in virtual reality, Unity development, and immersive experience creation. Each scenario was carefully designed to provide an optimal realistic and educational experience.

The solution is optimized for the Oculus Quest headset, enabling mobile and flexible use in various training environments. The intuitive interface and user guides facilitate adoption by trainers.

The integration of complementary educational materials (posters, videos, guides) creates a complete training ecosystem, combining immersive technology with traditional educational materials for optimal learning.
